Monthly Archives: February 2011

The 6 Th. february last year, I saw an exhibit on Louisiana. The museum presented a selected piece of photos by Jacob Holdts. They are a fascinating story about America through four centuries. About a man with a camera, with a lot of sensitivity and a special kind of closeness.

You will meet a tall dark stranger follows a pair of married couples, Alfie (Hopkins) and Helena (Jones), and their daughter Sally (Watts) and husband Roy (Brolin), as their passions, ambitions, and anxieties lead them into trouble and out of their minds. After Alfie leaves Helena to pursue his lost youth and a free-spirited call girl named Charmaine (Punch), Helena abandons rationality and surrenders her life to the loopy advice of a charlatan fortune teller. Unhappy in her marriage, Sally develops a crush on her handsome art gallery owner boss, Greg (Banderas), while Roy, a novelist nervously awaiting the response to his latest manuscript, becomes moonstruck over Dia (Pinto), a mystery woman who catches his gaze through a nearby window.

It’s written and directed by Woody Allen, who is one of my favorite movie makers.

After the Baum und Pferdgarten show, we continued to the Royal danish Academy of music concert hall to see the Barbara í Gongini show. As before we got drinks and snacks, and was showed to our seats. This time is was a mysterious and dark show. There were about 15 models who was styled like they’ve just arrived from the dead.

BARBARA í GONGINI is a Faroese brand based in Denmark.

The aim of the company is to create Nordic clothing based on a conceptual approach to the process, where experiments with forms provide the setting for the visual motive in the design.

Barbara í Gongini creates clothing, which is at the leading edge of the trade. Barbara í Gongini furthermore participates very actively in the artistic debate in the Nordic countries. During the work, interdisciplinary co-operation with other artists within music, photography, film, etc, is emphasised and this co-operation nourishes inspiration during the design process itself.

Barbara í Gongini comprises two lines of women’s wear: BARBARA I GONGINI -the main line, and THE BLACK LINE – a diffusion line.
The collection represents these two extreme points, but must be seen as a coherent whole.

BARBARA í GONGINI – Is the creative part of the two lines where play and experiments are tested based on varying themes and it is here that art and design meet.
The results of the above process form the basic elements in the other part of the collection and present the subtle profile of the brand.

THE BLACK LINE – Is a simplification of the above and is the more commercial line of the collection and the purpose is to create a more basic line of women’s wear with a very personal and original expression of form.

The collections are released twice a year.

High quality and artistic responsibility comprises all parts of the processes. This contributes to local and global responsibility towards our customers for our products.

The collections are following the ethical rules of the sustainable principles that Barbara I Gongini is famous for.

Barbara ì Gongini was nominated for ethical award in 2010.

After the show, we were exhausted, and went home to Vesterbro, and layed our heads on the pillows at about 02.00 pm.

Right now copenhagen fashion week is on from the 2 Th. to the 6 Th. feb. Yesterday I was with my ex mother in law to some shows. We arrived about 10 a’clock am, got some drinks and snacks, and was showed to our seats. Baum und Pferdgartens models entered the catwalk with style. Leather, fur, grey, beige, black and white. With their hair in tight ponytails and classy make-up they showed the beautiful clothes of Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave. The company was founded by the two designers Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave in January 1999. Now ten years later the brand is available in more than 20 countries worldwide and leading boutiques and department stores offer the collections to women in metropolitans as Copenhagen, London, Paris, New York, Los Angeles, Hong Kong, and Tokyo.
The creative manifest of Baum und Pferdgarten is to differ from the masses both in design and in process. The designer duo is known for not compromising on quality or esthetics – the high quality is reflected in both the fabrics as well as in the attention to detail and craftsmanship in the manufacturing.
The collections from Baum und Pferdgarten give women an opportunity to express themselves individually by offering a combination of a classic styles and avant-garde pieces which can be mixed accordingly to the individual taste or occasion. Rikke Baumgarten and Helle Hestehave like to approach their designs with a touch of irony and humor – and hence their signature is somewhere in between harmony and quirky playfulness.
Through the years Baum und Pferdgarten have received numerous awards and been exhibited in various cities as a sign of recognition for their innovative design.

The collection has the title Black Bird, and is a tribute to the bird.
